God Can Do A Lot With the Broken Pieces. Give Them to Him!
You’re Not Too Far Gone for God, Let Him Turn Your Regret into Purpose

In 1972, a young man named Nicky Cruz walked onto a stage in New York City—not as a gang leader, but as a preacher.
Just a few years earlier, Nicky had been one of the most feared gang members in Brooklyn. Abandoned by his parents and consumed by violence, he led the notorious Mau Maus gang. His life was marked by addiction, brutality, and brokenness.
But then, a skinny street preacher named David Wilkerson told him, “Jesus loves you.” Nicky cursed him out, threatened his life, and stormed away. Yet those words haunted him until one night, he surrendered his life to Christ.
That broken gangster became a global evangelist, reaching thousands with the same love that saved him.
Why? Because he gave Jesus the broken pieces.
Recently, I came to a sobering realization: if care is not taken, the mistakes of the past can rob a person of the future God has prepared. It’s possible to be so consumed with shame, regret, or guilt that you completely lose sight of the hope ahead.
Some people stay trapped in a cycle of despair, self-sabotage, and discouragement. Time that could have been spent healing or growing is wasted in replaying the past. In extreme cases, the weight becomes unbearable, and sadly, some even take their lives.
Judas Iscariot is a painful example. After betraying Jesus, he was so overwhelmed with guilt that he couldn’t see a way back. But contrast that with Peter, who also failed, but ran back to Jesus and became a pillar in the early church.
God Still Works with Broken Lives
The Bible gives us hope that God is not finished with people whose lives have cracks. In fact, He often does more with broken vessels than He does with polished ones.
💥 Samson
He was impulsive, undisciplined, and disobedient. But in the final moments of his life, after he surrendered to God, he brought down more enemies of Israel than he had in all his years of leadership.
✝️ Paul
He was a violent persecutor of Christians. By all accounts, he was unworthy to be used by God. But after an encounter with Jesus, Paul became one of the most influential voices in Christian history.
🌾 Ruth
A widowed Moabite woman with no status or future. Yet she clung to Naomi, stepped into unfamiliar territory, and God wove her into the lineage of King David, and of Jesus Christ.
💧The Woman at the Well
Used, rejected, and carrying deep shame, she came to fetch water at a time when no one else would be there. But Jesus was waiting. That woman became the first evangelist in Samaria.
And the list continues:
Mary Magdalene, once tormented by seven demons, became one of Jesus’ most faithful followers.
Rahab, a prostitute in Jericho, became an ancestor of the Messiah.
The man of Gadara, once chained and forgotten, became a missionary to ten cities.
Maybe your story feels broken too.
Maybe you’ve experienced disappointment, betrayal, moral failure, addiction, abuse, delay, or rejection. Maybe your dreams have crumbled. Maybe you've looked in the mirror and wondered, "Can anything good come out of this mess?"
Let me tell you what God told me to tell you: Give Him the broken pieces.
You don’t need to have it all together.
You don’t need to fake it until you make it.
You don’t need to clean yourself up before coming to Him.
Just come.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 18:3–6 (NKJV):
“Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred… so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.”
The clay was damaged, but it was still in the Potter’s hands. And that made all the difference.
So here’s the truth:
Yes, your past may be painful.
Yes, some things were your fault. Others weren’t.
But you are still in His hands.
Let Him reshape you.
Let Him redeem your pain.
Let Him restore your joy.
God is not intimidated by your brokenness. He specializes in making masterpieces out of messes.
You still have the rest of your life ahead of you.
Don’t waste another day drowning in guilt or regret.
Let God lift you from the miry clay and set your feet on solid ground.
Let Him bring beauty from your ashes.
You are not rejected.
You are not forgotten.
You are not beyond repair.
He loves you.
He wants you.
And He still has a plan for you.
