7 Ways To Never Run Out of Inspiration During Your Devotion
Sometimes God will test your patience by delaying to show up in your devotion. It is your willingness to wait that will give you the entrance into His presence.
One of the things you must work towards every day when you meet God is to ensure that you come out with a word you can work and walk with for the day.
But what do you do when you cannot find inspiration whatsoever. Here are a few things to do;
Go over the dealings of yesterday.
It could be that God is not through with you. As a standard practice, always revise the dealings of yesterday before you begin that of today.
One of two things will happen; it is either you realize that God is not through with you or you proceed eventually to the next thing.
Have a statutory Bible reading plan.
I believe every Christian should have a systematic way of just reading the Bible. You are not studying or meditating, just reading even if it is just a chapter per day.
You will usually find the Holy Spirit stopping you along the way to concentrate on a particular portion of the passage you are reading.
Ensure there is a spiritual book/devotional you are reading.
If you are reading a good one, God will usually take words from this book or devotional to inspire you. A statement from the book might be what your next devotion will revolve around.
Go through your prayer journal and pray.
As you pray through the list of items in your prayer journal, you may find the Holy Spirit placing a special burden on your heart as you pray on a particular prayer topic or focus.
Be willing to stay.
It is not everyday that inspiration will come quickly. Sometimes God will test your patience by delaying to show up in your devotion. It is your willingness to wait that will give you the entrance into His presence.
You must desist from the habit of trying to confine God to a stipulated time. Be willing to “waste” time in His presence if need be.
Go over the current dealings of God in your life.
You can decide to focus on the current dealings of God in your life. What are the themes or issues the Holy Spirit is emphasizing?
What are you struggling with? What has God been trying to correct in your life? This might be what God wants you to focus on.
Pray in other tongues.
When all other means doesn’t work, you can resort to praying in other tongues. Keep praying in tongues until there is a breakthrough in your spirit.
The inspiration will definitely come – a word in your heart, a Bible verse or a special burden to pray for someone or something.
Above all, be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Ensure that your heart is tuned to His channel when you come to His presence, you can never go back without being fully inspired.
