4 Guaranteed Ways to Initiate Thanksgiving During Your Daily Devotion
It is from the place of thanksgiving, worship or praises that you begin to access everything God has for you for the day.
Thanksgiving, praises or worship is the password for getting into God’s presence. Psalm 100:4 says we enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
The Message translation says,
“Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.”
Thanksgiving, praises or worship opens up your spirit to receive from God’s spirit.
It is from the place of thanksgiving, worship or praises that you begin to access everything God has for you for the day.
Meanwhile, sometimes one might wake up overwhelmed with the demands and challenges of life such that one is not inclined to even thank God or praise Him.
Sometimes you are just tired and uninspired. But there is a guaranteed way to ensure that you get into the thanksgiving mode as soon as you come into God’s presence.
Focus on the basics.
You have life, food to eat, clothes to wear and a house where you live.
That’s enough to start you off in thanksgiving. Having life cancels all your excuses not to be thankful.
Don’t try to impress God.
Just thank and praise Him in your own way. He is not look at your words but your heart. Be real. Commune with the Holy Spirit like a friend.
Keep a gratitude journal.
This will keep you in remembrance of what God is doing in your life.
I personally have disciplined myself to write the things I am grateful for every day. This way I can quickly look back at the previous day and see reasons to thank and praise Him.
Use a worship, praise or thanksgiving song.
Sometimes, it is even the Holy Spirit that will give you the song as soon as you wake up.
Be sensitive to it. In the least, you can play one on your phone.
Above all, you need discipline and thoughtfulness in order to stay grateful. May your week be one full of reasons to thank God. Amen.
