3 Reasons You Should Stop Treating Your Devotion as an Item on Your To-Do List
God feels and knows when we come to His presence just so we don’t “miss it” today. It’s about time you change your disposition and be willing to give heart, time and devotion to Him.
The truth is many believers observe the traditional daily devotion as a mere obligation; something they do to quiet their guilty conscience, fulfil all righteousness or as one of the daily routines that we tick off once it is done.
We put up this attitude of “I’m done with it today” then we move to the next thing. Like, let me just give what belongs to God to God so that He will not be angry at me.
This attitude is having a negative impact on your spiritual health and here are 3 (three) reasons you should stop treating your daily encounter with God as a mere item on your to-do list.
It Denies you of God’s Best.
Since you are not giving God your best, you inadvertently deny yourself of His best. You will always find God with the same disposition with which you approach Him.
God cannot interrupt you.
There are definitely things God wants to tell you, show you or ask you to do. But since your heart is not there and you cannot wait to do the next thing, it will be difficult to hear God’s voice. It will be difficult to alter your schedule and receive His plan.
You Won’t Grow Spiritually.
You will remain at a spot because your attitude will not help you to access new things in God and consequently there will not be spiritual growth.
You will remain a spiritual dwarf feeding on spiritual crumbs since you are not ready to sit up and feast from His table. You will wonder why you cannot still hear God, overcome sin and bad habits and do all the basics of the faith.
God feels and knows when we come to His presence just so we don’t “miss it” today. It’s about time you change your disposition and be willing to give heart, time and devotion to Him. It’s about time we come to Him not because it is a duty but because we love Him.
May God help you!
