12 Ways to Quickly Revive a Dead/Dying Prayer Life
One of the tools the enemy uses is to keep you guilty all day since you couldn't pray in the morning.
Recently, a young woman responded to a post I made via our Telegram channel about the challenge she has been having with her prayer life. She couldn’t get herself to pray when she woke up in the morning. Even when she uses an alarm, she would switch it off when it rings and go back to bed.
Perhaps, you are also having a similar experience, here are 12 things you can do to quickly break the yoke of spiritual lukewarmness.
1. Realization and readiness to get out of the spiritual rot as soon as possible.
Until a man realizes he is in a bad shape spiritually, he is not ready to receive help from God. You must realize the danger of prayerlessness and be ready to get out as soon as possible.
2. Focus on taking small steps.
This is what I mean, decide you are going to be praying for say just 5 or 10 minutes daily and keep at it. Your goal right now is not in the length of time but in the practice. If you are consistent, you will soon realize that you are spending more time in God's presence.
3. Have a prayer list.
List all the prayer burdens on your heart in a book and take it along to the place of prayer. Then, pray on each of them within the space of time that you have. The purpose of a prayer list is to avoid getting to the prayer place and you don't know what to pray about.
4. If you are finding it difficult to pray in the morning, you can choose another time in the course of the day.
When you become fully revived you can go back to the early morning. One of the tools the enemy uses is to keep you guilty all day since you couldn't pray in the morning. Your Father will attend to you anytime.
5. Reduce screen time.
Reduce the time you spend on social media or watching movies. It is best if you can completely avoid them for now.
6. Spend time reading and meditating on God's word.
Every page of the Bible is a prayer prompt if you are sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
7. Find spiritual books that would challenge you to go back to God's presence.
Secrets of the Secret Place by Bob Sorge will help you.
8. Go on a personal retreat.
It could be a few hours, a day or a weekend. Just go there alone with your Bible and a heart ready to meet with God.
9. Pray in other tongues.
Don't mind how you feel just keep at it until you feel revived.
10. Listen to anointed messages that challenge you to seek God's face.
Messages by Joshua Selman might be a good place to start.
11. Attend an anointed Christian gathering or conference where you can hear God's word and be challenged to wake up from spiritual slumber.
12. Report yourself to your pastor or disciple-maker.
I am not necessarily talking about your church pastor but someone to whom you are spiritually accountable. Since he or she knows you, he or she will be able to minister to you appropriately.
I hope this helps!
